I chose to post this video because I feel that the story being displayed in this song relates to me. I feel that this song creates a really strong feeling towards success. If you listen to the song you will hear how Lupe is explaining to his audience that when success is placed right under your feet you shouldn't walk on it, but step over it. He talks about his happiness towards achieving what he set out for so long ago. In this song, a really strong quote is said. This quote is, "IF YOU ARE WHAT YOU SAY YOU ARE THEN HAVE NO FEAR." What I think Lupe is trying to say in this quote is that aslong as your proud of your own success and living a life that you want to live then enjoy it. This quote doesn't only symbolize joy, but it symbolizes confidence and wisdom. It symbolizes confidence in your wisdom. This song is a really big motivation towards me. I too am a rapper with a huge dream and often question my path towards success. On a daily basis I would have to say that I think about my life-long goal atleast two-hundred times a day. Whenever I feel disapointed discouraged I just look back to my past and remember why I live the way that I live. Wether people belive me or not when I say I live for music I mean I really do live for music. When I rap I dont rap just becuase theres a nice feeling behind it , which there is , but I rap because my life depends on it. Several stages in my life have supported the thought of escape, the thought of flying into the sky and beggining a new life in heaven. But, what keeps me going is music. What keeps my family going after a notice of inviction is music. My music is the future of my family.

Developing My Character

"I can still remember the nice warm feeling that surrounded my arms when I first carried you", said Cesar. At this point Cesar was still a stranger to me so I stood quiet. Cesar than slowly sat down on my moms twenty year old couch. If only he knew how bad I felt for the couch considering his huge gorilla shaped figure. After a long wait ,Cesar finally made it all the way onto the couch. He quickly glimsed around in search of the television remote. He looked kind of rusty so I helped him out. As the television played I decided to be smart and ask Cesar some questions. My first question was "when was the first time I met you?" He answered, " never."This shocked me. I couldn't believe the harsh news. Although I'v never met Cesar before I couldn't feel more at home. His rusty moves and pitiful words exited me. For some reason I felt so much like him. Cesar then asked a random question. "Do you remember me", he asked. I quickly responded and said no. I felt bad so I told him I wish I remembered him. He glimpsed at me and blinked twice. I couldn't understand why. Then it came to me. He missed me as much as I missed him. The thought of being admired exited me. Sudden joy surrounded me. even till this day I can still remember how much my uncle looked at me as we cried with joy. I will always remember that moment that I knew I was finally loved.

Setting

I see a guy putting on a blue hat.
I see small black birds flying above me.
I see a red Honda Civic speeding.
I see a little boy and girl crossing the street.
I see old ladies washing clothes inside the laundry mat.
I hear birds chirping loudly.
I hear police sirens moving around.
I hear a school bell ringing repeatedly.
I hear a car speeding by me.
I hear a cash register opening and closing.
I feel a cold breeze hitting my face.
I feel the thumping of loud music being played on my feet.
I feel my hair being pushed back by the wind.
I feel cold wind going in my ears.
I feel my hands warming up in my pockets.
I smell strong soap blowing in the wind.
I smell smoke coming from speeding cars passing by me.
I smell hair chemicals coming from the hair salon next to me.
I smell warm tamales coming from the guy selling them at the school across the street.
I smell sweat from sweaty smelly kids passing by.
I taste smoke and gas coming from cars passing by.
I taste dry saliva in my mouth caused by a cold wind passing by.
I taste warm tamales coming from the guy selling them across the street.
I taste a humid wind caused by a mix of warm tamales and a dry mouth.
I taste tires caused by all the speeding cars passing by me.

Response to Lyrics

RESPONSE:
I chose this song because I feel that in this song Kanye is really expressing his emotions of true success and glory. I feel that I can relate to Kanye and what he's feeling right know because I too am a rapper and desire to live life without rules only glory. I think this song shows how Kanye is a real person with human desires.

[Kanye West]
Like we always do at this time
I go for mine, I got to shine
Now throw your hands up in the sky
I g-go for mine, I got to shine
Now throw your hands up in the sky

[T-Pain]
I'ma get on this TV mama, I'ma
I'ma put shit down
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, I'm good

[Verse 1 Kanye West]
Welcome to the good life
Where nigga's that sell D
Won't even get pulled over in they new V
The good life, let's go on a living' spree
Shit they say the best things in life are free
The good life, it feel like Atlanta
It feel like L.A., it feel like Miami
It feel like N.Y., summertime Chi, ahh
(Now throw your hands up in the sky)
So I roll through good
Y'all pop the trunk, I pop the hood, Ferrari
And she got the goods
And she got that ass, I got to look, sorry
Yo it's got to be cause I'm seasoned
Haters give me them salty looks, Lowry's
50 told me go 'head switch the style up
And if they hate then let 'em hate
And watch the money pile up, the good life

[Hook]
Now I, I go for mine, I got to shine
Now throw your hands up in the sky
Now I, I go for mine, I got to shine
Now throw your hands up in the sky

[T-Pain]
I'ma get on this TV mama, I'ma
I'ma put shit down
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, I'm good

[Verse 2 Kanye West]
Welcome to the good life
Where we like the girls who ain't on TV
Cause they got more (Ass than the models)
The good life, so keep it coming' with the bottles
Till she feel boozed like she bombed out Apollo
The good life, it feel like Houston
It feel like Philly, it feel like D.C.
It feel like VA, or the Bay, or Ye
Ayy, this is the good life
Welcome to the good life

Homie, tell me what's good
Why I only got a problem when you in the hood
Like I'm new in the hood, the only thing I wish?
(I wish a nigga would)
He probably think he could, but, but
I don't think he should
50 told me go 'head switch the style up
And if they hate then let 'em hate
And watch the money pile up, the good life

[Hook]
Now I, I go for mine, I got to shine
Now throw your hands up in the sky
Now I, I go for mine, I got to shine
Now throw your hands up in the sky

[T-Pain]
I'ma get on this TV mama, I'ma
I'ma put shit down
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, I'm good

[Verse 3]
Have you ever popped champagne on a plane
While getting' some brain
Whipped it out, she said "I never seen snakes on a plane"
Whether you broke or rich, you gotta hit this
Having' money's not everything, not having' it is
I was splurging' on trizz
But when I get my card back, activate it
I'm back to Vegas cause
I always had a passion for flashing' before I had it
I close my eyes and imagine, the good life

[T-Pain]
Is the good life better than the life I live
When I thought that I was gonna go crazy
And now my grandmamma ain't the only girl calling me baby
And if you feeling' me now then put your hands up in the sky
And let me hear you say hey, hey, hey, ooh
I'm good
